Crochet Coaster Pattern

Easy Crochet Coaster Pattern

Crochet mug rugs or crochet coasters are very fun projects that can be done very quickly. You can make a set of four or six and they are great gifts for any occasion.

Just be sure to use a 100% cotton yarn that is heat resistant. You don't want to use acrylic for example because the heat will melt it.

Crochet Stitches and Terminology

To complete this project, you need to know some basic crochet stitches. This pattern was written in US terminology and below you can find a list of stitches we will use.

Crochet Coaster Pattern Notes

1) The (*) shows you from where in the pattern you should start the repeat for the rest of the row of through where the pattern indicates.

2) Inc. (increase) - 2 stitches together in the same stitch from the previous row.

3) The final project will measure around 5.5 inches.

4) The ch 1 at the beginning of each row DOES NOT count as sc. It is only to build up the work.

Crochet Coaster Material

  • 5 mm hook / size H
  • Worsted weight yarn (size 4) - I used Peaches and Cream 100% cotton.
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle

The gauge for this project is: 16 dc x 2 rows = 4" W x 1.5" H
